A factory wide energy monitoring system utilised satellite PLC’s to collate
and generate usage data from all main and sub-main electrical, gas, water,
steam, air and effluent meters for a complete food factory.
The data is stored in an SQL database by shift and presented to users on their
desktop PC’s in trend, report and Excel formats. All meters were calibration
checked and all data verified.
The resulting system has enabled energy and water wastage to be targeted
and significantly reduced energy consumption to be achieved and maintained.
The energy monitoring system has paid for itself in months.
An energy saving project involved working within the
Chemical Industry. This was to carry out the electrical
installation work on a new Acetone Recovery plant.
PCII recognised the requirement to gain employee qualifications in both
Compex Gas (EX01, 2, 3 & 4) and Compex Dust (EX05 & 6) to enable us to
work in potentially explosive atmospheres.
Whilst costly to PCII, we see this as continued investment in employees to
enable us to expand our services and customer base.
We are now able to complete & certify installation and inspection in
these explosive environments.
